The schedules and curriculum of every Nosara Yoga Institute program honor the time and space it takes for Nature to work her miracle of bringing the rhythms of self into ever-deeper harmony with the rhythms of Nature. Professional Yoga Education at Nosara Yoga Institute

Among the choices for training as a yoga teacher at Nosara Yoga Institute, you will discover a spectrum of educational opportunities for deepening your yoga practice and for furthering your skillfulness as a professional yoga educator. Echoing the biodiversity inherent in the surrounding environment is an equally diverse, interdisciplinary approach to yoga that places the highest value on delving into the very roots of yogic inquiry. When your understanding and insights into yoga are grounded in your own experience, you will have a foundation for life-long learning and teaching—wherever your curiosity carries you.

No singular educational curriculum can address the variety of approaches and considerations that yoga encompasses. This is why you have different choices in your training at Nosara Yoga Institute.

  • The 200-hour Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher Training supports your exploration of the fundamentals of what is common to all yoga styles, while enabling you to discover your unique expression and style of yoga and to create a context for offering your skills in a way that supports your life purposes. You’ll gain familiarity with teaching a wide range of classes for varying fitness and experience levels, and also gain confidence in adapting teaching methodologies that make your classes effective for the students and fulfilling for you.

  • The 100-hour Self-Awakening Yoga® Therapeutics Teacher Training is an in depth study and practice of the movement inquiries, theory and philosophy as written about in Don’s Book; Self-Awakening Yoga; Expansion of Consciousness. This training will increase your ability to respond to the special needs of your students with physical limitation. Paradoxically you will also be able to teach from a deeper understanding of Kundalini yoga and the pranic energy that flows through you and your students. This training will take the lid off of what you think yoga postures are and take you back to where it all began; movement directed from within instead of without.

  • The 100-hour Inner Quest for The Yoga Educator : This training is the integrative module required for Professional Level Certification. This program refines your listening skills and ability to respond to your students without just giving advice. We learn to Say Back, what we are hearing in such a way as to stimulate the discovery from within. The role as yoga teacher that we are developing in this module, we are calling the Yoga Guide.

  • The 100-hour Pranassage Practitioner Training provides you with a methodology for one-on-one yoga sessions that awaken greater awareness in your student/clients of all ages and experience levels to the profound role that relaxation plays in yoga.

  • The 100-hour NYI Let Your Yoga Dance Teacher Training A dynamic experience of inner rhythm and expressive movement, Yoga Dance traces its roots to the free flow of yoga postures in Kripalu Yoga known as meditation-in-motion. Based on the chakras and the energy inherent in each, this training teaches you to open and flow with your innate joyfulness.

  • The 100-hour Experiential Anatomy for the Multi-Dimensional Being® is designed to help you acquire a deeper knowledge of the body by studying both the objective, scientific aspects of anatomy, as well as exploring the subjective, experiential elements. We will use mediums such as experiential movement, palpation, art and awareness through internal scanning as we learn how to integrate anatomy with various yoga practices.

  • The 500-1000 hour Professional Teaching Certification is awarded upon completion of a Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour Certification, plus three 100-hour NYI modules and 100 hours of logged teaching experience.  Please call or email for more information.

Accreditation

Because our trainings exceed the standards of the National Yoga Alliance, our graduates are eligible to join and be listed in the Yoga Alliance Registry at both the 200, 500 and 1000 hour levels. These credentials, in conjunction with certification through Nosara Yoga Institute assure that your qualifications will be recognized on a national and international level and will help you to take advantage of new professional opportunities that are continuously emerging. Attendance will be taken in all NYI programs and is required for Certification.
